Unique Vacation Spots

November 22, 2016 //  by Direct Supply Network - Travel the World

Unique Vacation SpotsAre you looking for the unique vacation spot to escape your day-to-day life? Then these small towns in the United States just might that which you seek. With their colorful locals, funky shops, and overall charm, these towns offer you a unique vacation experience.

Cayucos, California

Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this laid-back beach town is a throwback to the surf towns of yesterday. Here the two most important things for residents are the surf and the food. Just off of Highway 1, visitors have to follow a bit of a detour to get to the town, but it is well worth it when you arrive. The locals are warm and welcoming and the beaches are absolutely beautiful. Because of the mild seasons here, the summers are cool and sunny with mild, beautiful winters. It is the perfect spot for a getaway any time of year.

Suttons Bay, Michigan

Located in Leelanau County in Northern Michigan, this tiny village is a favorite among artists in the area. Surrounded by wineries, and unique shopping experiences, the town is home to the largest greenhouse and garden center north of Grand Rapids. Things to do here include shopping at homemade fudge stores, dining at a number of seafood and steak joints, catching a film at their quaint theater house, and experiencing the Annual Suttons Bay Jazzfest and Art Festival. Less than a half an hour from Traverse City and Glen Arbor, this village is perfect for a day trip or a weekend stay.

Saugerties, New York

If you are looking to go somewhere where nobody knows your name, this may not be the right spot for you. The locals here are known to be so friendly that you might expect an invitation for dinner or dessert upon arriving in the town. One of the local bookstores is run out of the home of the owner who is happy to regale his guests with stories straight out of his nearly 4,000 piece collection. Other local shop owners are known to rent out rooms above their shops and invite travelers to dinners or brunches in their homes. There are a number of quaint shops, cafés and restaurants to be visited here and just about everyone welcomes you like an old friend or close family member.
